Armorex® is a new biochemical formulation that is used as a soil treatment to kill and control pathogenic nematodes, insects, and fungus. Armorex is an E.P.A. exempt minimum-risk pesticide and is has no re-entry restriction.
Tests on nematode infested golf course greens during 2005 showed that Armorex is an effective control for these damaging pests. Nematodes became a noticeable problem in many areas of the eastern 1/3 of the USA last summer because of the extreme growing conditions that prevailed. In the Mid-Atlantic region, several prominent golf courses were affected by nematodes and their resulting thin stands of turf. Where Armorex was applied, superintendents reported that the nematode damage stopped within 2-3 days and later nematode assays showed zero live nematodes.
Armorex is a unique blend of essential plant oils that includes sesame, which is highly toxic to nematodes. Farmers have used sesame in crop rotations for centuries because of its ability to reduce nematode infestations in crops following sesame. In addition, Armorex contains extracts of rosemary, clove, garlic, and pepper, all of which are effective nematode suppressants. Armorex is used as a preventative or curative treatment for both endo- and ecto-parasitic nematode species.
The Armorex label includes soil treatment uses on turf and ornamentals, vegetables, fruits, vineyards, nuts, and nursery crops. Armorex is also approved for use on greenhouse crops. The product has a zero (0) hour re-entry interval (R.E.I.).
